FUEL SYSTEM MAINTENENCE AFTER CARE:
AIR IN YOUR SYSTEM IS YOUR ENEMY! SO, WHEN LEAVING THE TRACK AFTER RACING, TWO SIMPLE STEPS TO ENSURE THAT NO AERATION OF YOUR FUEL SYSTEM OCCURS WHEN HAULING YOUR VEHICLE BACK HOME IS:
• REFILL YOUR FUEL CELL UP COMPLETELY TO THE TOP
• CAP OFF THE FUEL CELL VEN
IN BETWEEN WEEKENDS:
IF YOU KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO LET YOUR VEHICLE SIT FOR MORE THAN 7-10 DAYS AFTER RETURNING, FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO ENSURE YOUR VEHICLE IS READY FOR SUCCESS COME RACE DAY:
• FIRE THE CAR UP ONCE HOME FOR A COUPLE MINUTES (ENSURES NO AERATION OCCURRED)
• TURN THE CAR OFF AND RETOP OFF WITH FUEL
• CAP THE VENT ON THE FUEL CELL
• START THE VEHICLE UP ONCE A WEEK TO GET FRESH FUEL IN THE SYSTEM.
LONG TERM STORAGE:
IF YOU PLAN ON LETTING YOUR VEHICLE SIT FOR LONGER THAN 10 DAYS OR PERFORMING MAINTENANCE THAT REQUIRES OPENING FUEL SYSTEM, PLEASE FOLLOW THESE STEPS. WHEN THIS IS DONE, YOUR INJECTORS CAN SIT FOR YEARS WITHOUT FEAR OF CORROSION HAPPENING:
• PULL INJECTORS OUT OF INTAKE
• USE A SOFT RUBBER TIP AIR GUN TO BLOW CLEAN COMPRESSED AIR INTO THE TIP OF THE INJECTOR (BACK FLUSHING INJECTORS WILL NOT DAMAGE THE INJECTOR IT WILL SIMPLY BLOW OUT ALL THE FUEL)
• ONCE FUEL IS REMOVED, SPRAY A PETROLEUM BASED LUBRICANT INTO TOP OF INJECTOR AND PUT THE PROVIDED DUST CAPS ON TO SEAL INJECTOR AND CREATE A MOISTURE BARRIER.
(WE RECOMMEND PB BLASTER)
INITIAL START UP:
IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME USING OUR INJECTORS HERE ARE A FEW STEPS IN ORDER TO ENSURE SUCCESS WHEN YOU GO FOR THE INITIAL START UP ON YOUR ENGINE:
• MAKE FUEL LINES TO REPLACE YOUR FUEL RAILS
• RUN 5GAL OF FUEL THROUGH YOUR SYSTEM WITH THE RETURN LINE DISCONNECTED FROM TANK AND DIRECTED INTO A JUG. USE A PAINT STRAINER TO STRAIN FUEL.
• CLEAN FUEL RAILS THOROUGHLY
• RE INSTALL FUEL RAILS AND INJECTORS
• ADD CLEAN FUEL TO YOUR FUEL CELL
• REMOVE SPARK PLUGS AND ROLL THE ENGINE OVER WITH THE IGNITION OFF TO ENSURE NO FUEL IS COMING OUT OF SPARK PLUG HOLES
• RE INSTALL PLUGS AND ATTEMPT TO FIRE THE ENGINE!
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
➢ USE LIGHT WEIGHT ATF (AUTOMATIC TRANS. FLUID) ON INJECTOR O-RINGS FOR INSTALLATION
➢ WD-40 IS NOT PETROLEUM BASED THEREFORE WILL NOT PROTECT YOUR INJECTORS FROM CORRODING
➢ DO NOT PULSE THE INJECTORS BY ADDING VOLTAGE TO THEM TO CLEAR THEM OF FUEL
➢ CHECK YOUR 10 MICRON FILTER AFTER EVERY RACE AND REPLACE AFTER EVERY 4 RACES.
